Winner of New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) Best Documentary Film

(New York, NY – May 12, 2015) Of the 50 features, documentaries and short films showcased at the 15th edition of the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), jury members gravitated toward awarding movies like LABOUR OF LOVE, MARGARITA WITH A STRAW, HARAAMKHOR, KAAKA MUTTAI and DAUGHTERS OF MOTHER INDIA. The longest-running, most prestigious South Asian film festival in the Untied States was attended by Indian film industry glitterati such as Kalki Koechlin, Vishal Bhardwaj, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Anant Mahadevan, Mohan Agashe, L. Subramaniam, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sharat Katariya and Vibha Bakshi, just to name a few.

NEW YORK, November 10, 2015 — Vibha Bakshi, a filmmaker and producer; Noa Meyer, Managing Director and Global Head of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women; Rachel Vogelstein, Senior Fellow and Director of the Women and Foreign Policy Program, Council on Foreign Relations; and Leigh Gallagher, Assistant Managing Editor, Fortune, and host, Fortune Live, discuss Bakshi’s film Daughters of Mother India prior to a screening at Asia Society. The conversation was introduced by Josette Sheeran, President and CEO of Asia Society, and moderated by Gallagher.

 

Full house screening at Bruce Museum, Greenwich, CT

ICC Greenwich presented National Film Award Winner, Daughters of Mother India on May 11th to a sold out crowd. Business leaders, influencers and decision makers came forward to extend their support to end gender violence. Vibha Bakshi, the filmmaker who won the President’s Award for the film reiterated that the issue of gender violence is a global issue. Vibha believes that her film was openly accepted and appreciated by everyone because it didn’t paint everyone with the same brush and left people with hope.
