Chief State Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) along with 300 senior most police personals and topnotch corporates came together for the screening of a special documentary ‘Daughters of Mother India’ by Vibha Bakshi and hosted by #VogueEmpower.

The evening saw a special screening of Bakshi’s documentary “Daughters of Mother India” which was adjudged best film in the social issues category and won a National Film Award on March 26, 2015. The screening elicited introspection on the role that all stake holders could play and lead by example.
We all have the power to change our collective perceptions. We all have roles to play. As the mother of two sons, I will teach them to respect women and not pass on to them the misplaced notions of masculinity that plague many of our country’s men. These are the small changes that will cumulatively add up to a change in perception over a generation or two. Men need to be part of the movement as well. We often feel helpless about our sexist, violent realities, but the truth is that we all have the potential to be agents of change.

So why was Bakshi's film okay and Udwin's clearly wasn't? In a word, sensationalism. That's the accusation from the government, the media, and from Bakshi herself when it comes to India's Daughter. Instead, Bakshi chose to "sensitize" audiences towards the issue of rape in India, focusing on police and judicial reform.
